Do you know that you need to give value to others, but you just aren’t sure how to do that?
How to Increase Your Value in the Marketplace is one of the Fundamental Keys to Being Successful in Your Business.
It can be hard to figure out how to increase your value in the marketplace, especially when you are just getting started. Even when you’ve been working for a while, but aren’t yet having a lot of success. It’s easy to feel like you don’t have value to give yet. This is so wrong – and what many coaches would call “stinkin’ thinkin'” – and THAT will keep you broke.
It’s simple to find small ways to add value to the marketplace and offer valuable content and tips to others – either original or shared. Today’s video shares some ways to do that no matter your level of experience or knowledge.
Here are some of the ways you can easily increase your value in the marketplace…
- Create content from webinars or training seminars you attend.
- Curate content from others – find interesting or educational tips on posts and videos & share that with others. You can do this by curating, or compiling, content from others into your own new content, or by simple sharing the original post or video on your social networks. Tip: when you curate, always give credit to the original source.
- Connect and engage with other on social platforms, in off-line groups, or at work. Ask questions and really listen to the answers, you know more than you think, and you can help people who are coming along behind you.
While I was researching this article, I found of a couple of other interesting articles that you may also find helpful.
In Forbes contributor, Lisa Quast’s, article, To Increase Your Value, Think Of Yourself As A ‘Product,’ And ‘Upgrade’ Yourself Every Year, she offers several ways to do this. Many of the suggestions she offers are things that you are likely already doing in one form or another as an entrepreneur seeking success in your business. For example, taking a class – when is the last time you were on a webinar where you learned something new? Bet it wasn’t that long ago – probably in the last week, right? That’s information you can use to increase your value in the marketplace by sharing what you learned with others.
Likewise, Jason Demers of AudienceBloom wrote How to Increase Your Value in One Hour, Each Day, which was featured in Inc. Magazine. His article gives some similar advice as Lisa’s, but with a more entrepreneurial turn. His focus is on short bursts of action to increase your value, and approaching this with the long-term in mind. He talks about watching YouTube videos (like the one below…hint, hint). You can find lots of value in social media posting, just be aware of the time you are spending, and stay on task. Warning: watching videos for education and value are different than cute kittens chasing things. Save that for your next vacation.

Remember, personal development and growth are life-long processes, and you just have to have a plan. Plan to work on your own development for at least 30 minutes every day, and you will add lots of value that you can share with others along the way. I use my time at the gym or waiting for my kids in car line to listen to podcasts or recordings of courses. It’s a great way to make use of time that would otherwise be spent daydreaming or listening to TV or radio radio that won’t help pay your bills next year.
